We are fussy about who we work with, because we want to get good results for our clients. So we only work with owners of service businesses who are growth-minded, tech-friendly, and ready to build businesses that thrive without sacrificing their wellbeing.

We have been doing this for a long time and we know what helps us deliver the results that you signed up for. Which is why we have a few non-negotiables in the way in which we work. 

So, before you register to work with us, here are some things you should know!

Before you book a discovery call with us, please be aware of the following:

We only work on cloud software – and specifically, we only work on Quickbooks Online and Xero. We have tried to assist clients on other programs in the past and it never ends well. For us to provide you with a level of service we are comfortable with, we need to be pulling our financial data from one of these two accounting programs.

We work best with service businesses, preferably in a Professional Service industry (law, engineering, architecture, consulting, IT, etc). We can help product-based businesses, but we are at our best supporting professional services.

We are not cheap. We offer a high-value service and you will get what you pay for – but – we are not cheap. If you need help on a budget but you were still hoping for Pharsyde-level service, you can consider looking at the options we have available on Pharsyde Foundations instead.

When it comes to our Financial Management options, bookkeeping is our core service and we offer payroll and taxes as add-ons – we do not offer payroll and tax returns on their own. If you only need tax returns, then we can refer you to a phenomenal tax consultant that we know will take great care of you.

If you are interested in one of our Financial Transformation services, you do not have to take our Financial Management services to qualify – we are happy to work with your existing bookkeeper and accountant. However, if you need us to pull financial data from your systems, you need to be on Xero or Quickbooks!

We do operate internationally, but if you are outside of South Africa, then we can help you with everything except payroll and taxes. These are services that are tightly governed by the laws of your country, we can probably do the work, but we don’t like to operate on “probably” we like to be certain.

Our entire team is currently made up of introverts – so we like to work with introverts and we work in a way that suits introverts. Please be aware, however, that this means we do not like phones. We use email, text and virtual calls to stay in contact with our clients, our clients are never left in the dark. But phones are for emergencies and panic situations. If you like regular phone calls, then we are not the accountants for you.

We do not use a one-price-fits-all approach and we are not interested in selling you a service you do not need. That means that we will need to meet with you and ask you a bunch of questions about your business in order to quote you. If you would like to know more, please have a look at our How We Work page.

We bill for our services monthly, in advance, on the first of the month and we require you to sign a contract with us before we begin. The contract is to protect both us and you and it details everything you need to know about your service. Only some of our services come with a contractual time period, most are month-to-month with a 30-day cancellation notice.

We take payment via debit order within five days of the invoice. However, our debit orders are manually loaded on a monthly basis and – remember – all of our contracts have a 30-day cancellation clause, so you will not be stuck with a recurring debit order if you do not want to stay with us!

If you’re operating a new or micro business and you are worried you don’t qualify to work with us (or that you can’t afford us) you can complete our info form anyway. We might still be able to help you through Pharsyde Foundations and we will tell you so based on your responses.
